Liberty Rec Softball and Baseball
The only on-site registration for Duneland Diamond's fall ball season will be Saturday, August 7, 9:00 - 11:00am. Liberty Rec will have its final registration at the same time. The joint registration will be at DD's home field located at the corner of 5th Street and Porter Avenue in Chesterton. If it is raining, look for league representatives in the shed. Otherwise, they will be near the 3rd baseline bleachers. Liberty Rec offers two softball divisions: Minor for players aged 7 to 9 and Major for those 10 to 12 years old. Baseball players can be 7 to 12 years old and will be divided into two or three divisions, depending upon the number of registrations. Softball players' ages are based on the player's age as of December 31, 2009. Baseball players' ages are based on the player's age as of May 1, 2010. The fee is $45 per player. The softball season is scheduled for August 28 through October 16, with games being played on Saturday's. Baseball games will be played Monday - Friday during September and October, with practices starting in late August. There will be no games on Labor Day weekend. Players who will be moving up from t-ball in 2011 and playing minor softball or rookie baseball are encouraged to play the fall ball season. Duneland Diamond offers fall ball to those 13 - 15 years old as of May 1, 2010. The fee is $75 per player, with games beginning after Labor Day and ending the last weekend of October. Games will be played on Saturday's and possibly Sunday's, dependent upon other leagues' fall ball schedules. Current 12 year olds who will be playing as 13's in 2011 are encouraged to play Duneland Diamond's fall ball in order to prepare for next season. If your child did not play the Liberty Rec 2010 season or Duneland Diamond's 2009 or 2010 seasons, a birth certificate is needed as proof of age. Cal Ripken Baseball – A Division of Babe Ruth League
BOYS AGES 6-12
(Eligible players must have turned 6-12 years of age before 05/01/10 to participate in Fall League - If your son turned 13 AFTER 05/01/10, he is still eligible to play fall ball.)
8 Years & Under = ROOKIE (60' bases, no walks, coach pitch on ball four)
10 Years & Under = MINORS (60' bases with stealing)
12 Years & Under = MAJORS (70' bases with leadoffs)
Ages will not be the only factor for division placement. Returning Spring 2010 players will be placed in divisions upon review of thier last managers evaluation. All new Fall 2010 players will be evaluated for placement.
REGISTRATION FEE = $45/player
Registration Fee Includes: Uniform Shirt & Hat, League Accident Insurance, Umpire Fees, and Provided Team Equipment (Helmets & Catcher Gear).
NO FUND RAISER Required for Fall League.
PRACTICES will begin toward the end of August. GAMES will be scheduled throughout September and October. No Saturday or Sunday games.
